Such an idealist

I don’t know if it’s because of my weekend break, or the weather that makes it feel like the first day of spring, or my changes on here (notice the leaves that have scattered throughout my Four Leaf Clover?), but I am feeling a bit weird and overwhelmed today. Taking a break leaves you so far behind (no pun intended). There just isn’t enough time in the day for all of the lovely things that should be done! Something that I wish I could do a little bit of every day is volunteer. This summer I desperately want to go on a volunteer program. I’ve volunteered a bunch in my lifetime, but I’ve never been able to work with exotic/wild animals which is what I would love to do with my life.

Last month I read an amazing and inspiring post on Crazy Sexy Life called Find Your Purpose By Following Your Heart by Liz Longacre of Your Time Travels. I highly suggest you read it, no matter who you are or where you are in life. I sent an email to Liz asking her for some help in finding a volunteer program that would be best for me. For some reason emails got lost, but I finally heard back from Liz and she recommended that I check out Idealist.org which I actually happened to have heard of from my friend Jeannie. When I first heard about it, I guess it wasn’t the right time for me, but I am more than ready to do whatever I can to find a program now (it’s been so hard to find an affordable volunteer program that suits my needs).

Idealist.org sounds like the perfect spot for anyone to find any kind of volunteer program they’re interested in all around the world. They also list jobs, internships, organizations, events, programs, resources and people. Everyone has something they’re passionate about and it looks as though Idealist can help you find where to put your passion to good use. I’m heading on over to check them out now, I hope you will, too!

I can’t wait to check out this site more. A lot is really uncertain right now for me, but I’m doing my best to explore as many possibilities as I can.

What an awesome website! I love finding about things like this. I too would love to volunteer somehow every day. That’s a really good goal I think, to strive towards.
And how cool is it that you want to work with exotic/wild animals! You’d be so great at that.

I’m so glad others have found this website of interest, too! After I posted this, I realized that you need to choose every country individually so I’ll probably be spending a lot of time on there today, ha! I’ll definitely let you all know if I find a program for this summer!

Brandi – I hope it’s a good kind of uncertain or, at least, nothing bad.

Haylee – I hope to make a career out of helping animals so it’d be like I was volunteering every day, ha! I don’t think it’s too big of a dream since I already have five cats that I spend all day with so I just need to make that number bigger. 🙂 Thank you for saying I’d be great at helping exotic/wild animals, that means so much especially since it’s my life goal.
