My kind of fast food

I make these fries quite often because they’re so easy to make. I used to eat those fries in a bag that you could purchase in the freezer section, but after looking at the ingredients list and not being able to name half of what was in the fries, I decided to make my own. Since then, my fries have become a favorite for anyone who’s tried them. Next time you feel like eating some fries, try out this recipe!

Ingredients:
6-8 large potatoes (russet are usually the best kind)
Olive oil
Salt + Pepper (and any other kind of preferred seasoning)

I usually pick out the biggest potatoes out of the bunch and wash them well (make sure you wash off all the dirt and take off any growing roots). I don’t peal them because potato skins are very nutritious and, in my opinion, make the fries taste better. After they’re washed, I cut each potato into about eight pieces. You can cut them so that they’re triangles or long and thin – whatever you prefer. I pour just enough oil to cover the baking pan and put on the potato slices. I salt and pepper the potatoes and often times include a bit of chili powder and oregano or basil, whatever I have on hand that goes well. Then I drizzle a bit of oil on top. I set the oven to 220 degrees celsius/428 degrees fahrenheit and put the pan in. After about 20 minutes, I take the pan out and flip the fries. I put them back in and wait until they’re golden brown (as shown in the photo), so about 20-30 more minutes.

It’s not really fast food, but the preparation is so fast and simple, it’s well worth it to make on your own – not to mention the taste! If you make them, make sure to tell me how they turned out!

Add some ketchup and eat up!

Thank you both for commenting!
You’ve got to tell me what you think of them once you’ve eaten them Meredith! Were my instructions easy enough?

Oh I cannot wait to try theses, they look really good. My roommates make fires some times btu they look really greasy in the end. not sure what they use to make them but I know olive oil is good, better than deep fried grease!

Baking may take longer, but it’s definitely the healthier route. Do tell me when you make them April!

Caroline – Funny that you said that because I recently started popping my popcorn in coconut oil! Next time I’ll have to make sure to put more oil/drizzle it when it’s done.
