Giving never seemed so easy and fun

One of the projects that I’ve been working on for Ecorazzi is their completely new fast-paced philanthropy site called Microist.

Microist funds non-profit organizations through donations that are divided among thirty days so that every organization in that thirty days receives an equal amount of funds. Every single day (starting on the 12th of September, although there’s a poll up now!), two organizations will go head-to-head in a poll that anyone and everyone can vote on to choose their favorite charity. The winner of the poll will receive that day’s funds.

This past week I donated and it felt great! Not only did I donate to a non-profit organization, but I donated to thirty different amazing organizations. A few of which I nominated myself!

I know many of you have organizations that you love, great and small, that you wish received more recognition for their work, and now you can help them out. Donate if you’d like, any amount: a quarter, dollar, 5, 10, 25, etc. Nominate your favorite charities, a new one every single day if you’d wish. Vote for whichever charity you hope will receive the funds: this is probably the toughest part!

If you have any questions at all, check out Microist’s About and FAQ pages or feel free to ask me!

This is a really interesting concept. I’m going to check it. I hope I eventually get to hear some stories about how this works for the charities.

This sounds so cool! Do they do this every month?? Or is it just a temporary thing? I would love for it to be every month. Then I can go in and donate a little each month! That would be totally awesome!!

You said that each day two charities go head to head to win the days charity, will every charity that gets up there eventually win money? I mean, I would personally think that every charity should receive some funds but if one or two of them never win…that would kinda really suck for that company….or did I miss read part of your post and they do all get money at some point??
