Peace begins with a smile

This is a photo that I took on a stop during my bike trip yesterday. I’m really starting to like it here and having the beach so close is amazing and creates such a great atmosphere. Like I said before, I can’t help but smile. Smiles, when natural, seem to carry far beyond the face. Mother Teresa had it right when she said these words in the photo. Without happiness, peace cannot happen and vice versa.

I hope you have a peaceful weekend worth smiling about!

I’m so thrilled you like your new home so much. Did you bring any of your cats with you? I can’t imagine being away from mine for long.

I love the way you see beautiful in your surroundings. You appreciate the beauty around you and the fact that you share it with others is special. Thanks…I’m smiling.

I know that this is a post from a couple weeks ago now, but I just stumbled into your blog (When I need extra loveliness and inspiration, I start at Brandi’s NYAO and go to blogs she reads.)

I wanted to comment because this was particular resonant for me. I’ve recently been thinking about the simplicity of smiling and noticing when and why other people are smiling. That can kind of transform moments for me, hearing about other people’s joy and things that make them laugh or make them happy.

I started thinking about this, because I watched this short film: http://youtu.be/Cbk980jV7Ao – It’s called “Validation” and it’s kind of a neat little fable. (If you haven’t seen it, it’s only 16 minutes and very enjoyable.)

I love the picture above, hearing about someone happy and close to the ocean (which is one of best things in my life too!) and another reminder to smile and be joyful. :)
