It’s beginning to feel a lot like bike riding time

Yesterday on Do The Green Thing, I watched this great video about the Mission Bicycle Company by 4SP Films in San Francisco. It’s about the freedom of riding a bike and making bike riding more personal. Last spring, I felt so free and energized riding my bike in all the places that I felt I couldn’t really get to before. This world, America especially, seems almost unlivable without a car. I didn’t have a car (and still don’t… actually don’t plan on ever having one of my own) so getting around during the day seemed impossible until I remembered and got out one of my family’s bikes. I rode my bike to my friends’ houses and in the countryside. Then I moved to Switzerland and it’s so much more hilly. It takes some getting used to, but it’s so much fun! I hope to live in a place where I can get to anywhere I need to by bike, but riding in cities always seemed a bit scary and stressful. I suppose that takes some getting used to as well. How do you feel when you ride a bike?

I love riding my bike. I remember as a kid I used to go on bike rides ALL the time with my brother or sister. As we got older, for some reason we stopped. Last summer I started riding my bike again. It was so much fun. I can’t wait for warm weather. I am going to go on bike rides every chance I get. My mom introduced me to a “trail/path” that they go bike riding on and I think that is what I am going to do. Take the people trail all the way up to IUPUC. I think they said its about a 2 mile bike ride just to get there. So that will be awesome!! City riding, that will be something I have to get used to if I start riding to Lowe’s. Not that Columbus is a “city” but close enough for me. That is awesome this company has bikes for just about everything!! Do they have these stores in places other than San Fransisco?

I love riding a bike! It makes me feel good. I used to ride a lot back when I was a kid. My sister and I would ride all the time! But, when I got older the bike I had got messed up, so then I never got another one. I missed riding too! Twice I actually rented a bike for an hour just to ride one!
I really want to get another one someday. And I’m totally with you on riding a bike to get around!
I do have a car, but I’d love a bike too! Better for the environment of course, and so much fun!

Eva, I’m a TOTAL woose when it comes to bike riding. I just didn’t do it that much as a kid, so now as an adult I’m totally prone to running into the curb. Anyhow, I got a bike for Christmas and since my husband and I are both on Spring Break we made a vow to ride everyday. So far, it’s been good! But I’ll let you know when I hit that curb and start crying like a little girl….hahaha. I admire you riding in Switzerland. Your calves are going to look amazing in NO time! (p.s. I’m totally behind in commenting on some of your posts too so let’s do a comment exchange, shall we?) Happy Wednesday Eva!
