Act now to protect the Amazon

I know I’ve mentioned the Amazon rainforest on here multiple times, but to say it is important to our world is an understatement. “The Amazon is the world’s largest tract of tropical rainforest, containing the Earth’s greatest biological reservoir – around 30 percent of all terrestrial species are found there.” (Source: BBC) And that’s not even the half of it. You can find out more reasons as to why the Amazon rainforest is so important by clicking the BBC link or visiting WWF.

This time the Amazon is under threat of a new Forest Code. “The new Forest Code being proposed severely weakens protections for the Amazon rainforest and opens up vast areas to destruction, which would contribute to accelerating climate change.” Please sign the Greenpeace petition by clicking on the photo above or here and ask President Dilma Rousseff to protect the Amazon rainforest by vetoing this new Forest Code. Thank you!
