A short trip to picturesque Lake Como, Italy

como1
A couple weekends ago, I went on a short, somewhat spontaneous trip to Lake Como, Italy. If you follow me on either Facebook or Twitter, you’ve already seen a sneak peek of my trip. I hadn’t heard too much about Lake Como before and I have no idea why because it’s the most picturesque place I’ve ever been to! It’s no wonder so many celebrities have homes here (I saw many beautiful villas only to later find out they were the home of a celebrity). I couldn’t stop taking photos… of everything! It’s amazing how much beauty a touch of paint can add to a building and town as a whole. I wish every town had color like this! The buildings are built on beautiful mountains that surround the entire lake. Most of these photos are of the gorgeous sights from a few of the boat trips I went on from town to town. A boat as a means to get around in place of a bus is so much nicer! I’ve been to Italy (Venice) before and have been itching to explore more of the country ever since, Lake Como has only made that yearning even greater!

This white villa is one of George Clooney’s homes.

I loved the reflections of the buildings in the water… they were like paintings.

This villa is Richard Branson’s.

There’ll be more posts/photos to come after this one so come back for more villas, lakeside villages and gorgeous sights!

Ooh, beautiful photos. I’ve explored Italy quite a lot but we’ve never made it to Lake Como. An Italy trip will be in order once we have made it back home (note that I said ‘once’: I have to have hope that I *will* be able to take my children to places such as Lake Como, whilst they’re *still* children)….can’t wait to see more piccies….!!!

Helen – Thank you! I definitely recommend visiting Lake Como if you get a chance! I have all my fingers and toes crossed that you may one day get to go on a trip to Italy with your children πŸ™‚

Thank you for sharing your beautiful pictures! My boyfriend and I drove by Lake Como last year and I already said then that we have to come back. This post is a good reminder to go back soon! πŸ™‚ Must be nice to have a house at the lake… wouldn’t mind to trade with Richard Branson, haha!

Wow! What a wonderful trip to such a captivatingly beautiful place! Lake Como is well-known here in the US, probably because of all the American celebs who have villas there – George Clooney in particular. If I had all those $$$, I’d be sorely tempted – it looks like something from a story book. I love your photos, and how you caught the colorful homes reflected in the water – beautiful! Can’t wait to see more of Italy through your eyes and camera lens, I desperately want to visit it myself (my grandfather came from a little village near Pisa).

P.S. I’ve been thinking about it, and while I’m especially smitten with that minty green color of the house in the photos under Clooney’s, I’d like a small and cozy one way up on the hillside tucked in among the trees, please. πŸ™‚

Oh my goodness, YES – Lake Como is just gorgeous! My favorite place was probably Bellagio, but truly, I loved every single town we visited and drove by!
The only thing was driving along those tiny lakeside roads… sometimes it was a bit challenging, especially with so many bikers (there was a race coming up when we visited)

Thank you for sharing such pretty views!
