Snowfalls lead to magical forests and beautiful walks
For the last week, I’ve been blessed with a winter wonderland and what seemed like non-stop snow falls for days! Now if you don’t know this already, let me tell you… I looooove snow! It makes me feel like a little kid from the moment I see my first snowflake in the very first snow fall. When I was younger, I’d open my window and just watch the snow fall until my fingertips got too cold to keep the window open. I’d make full use of snow days by building snowmen and igloos, admiring snowflakes’ intricate designs and I’d even pretend I was a wolf in the snow (did anyone else do this?). I haven’t had a proper snow like this for years so I made sure to be out in it as much as possible this time around… I don’t know when I’ll get another snowy season like this again, gotta make the most of it! I took long forest walks, admiring every twist and turn and the absolute beauty the snow bestowed onto the canopies and sprinkled down onto the ground below. I felt like Lucy in Narnia! There’s just something so magical about snow.
I hope your 2015 has started off wonderfully and that it will be full of so much love, peace & joy!

Such beautiful pictures! The 7th picture looks like the entrance of a secret path – love it! Pretending to be a wolf in the snow would have been so fun, why didn’t I think of that back then!! π

Happy New Year, Eva! What magical photos! I’m a big fan of snow too (and winter). I love how it makes everything look so soft and muted, and how it muffles sound and makes everything so still and quiet. Your beautiful pictures really evoke that hard-to-find stillness, peace, and solitude. This series is like a tranquil meditation – just lovely! (Btw, who is that tiny speck of a person in the last photo?)

Laloofah – Happy New Year! π I’m so glad you enjoyed my pictures and that you were able to feel a little bit of what I did on my walks. You noticed! That speck is my brother (I think, at that point, he was just ready to be in the warmth at home, haha).

My God, it looks like a looooooot of snow:)
I like snow but only
1) on Christmas
2) after Chritsmas but outside the city
3) not longer than until let’s say end of February

It was a lot of snow, wasn’t it? I didn’t have snow boots so I didn’t get a chance to talk a walk in the forest while it was all white and lovely, but I will be correcting that so next time down’t catch me unawares!
Lovely photos, Eva!

Oh, I too love the snow. I loved it when my sons had snow days from school. We all were on immediate holiday mode. Ahhh.
Here’s a poem by David Kuhrt: “Snowflakes”
Snowflakes,
white as frozen light
where darkness dies,
and heaven lies
incarnate on the ground.
Savor the quiet, the cool on your face, the textures of the surface, the crunch, the ability to pack the snow into different shapes, lick some snow off a branch of a fir tree…..thanks for the images……
Warmly,
Jeannie
