Out of Print: books on shirts, shirts on a mission

I used to wear tons of graphic shirts that held absolutely no meaning behind the design and, since noticing that I was a walking advertisement for something that didn’t even exist, I’ve stopped wearing them. But these shirts are ones I could get behind, or, well… in.

Out of Print is more than just a shirt company. Their shirts feature book covers (many of which are the original covers from many years ago) and they help those who don’t have access to books. “For each shirt [they] sell, one book is donated to a community in need through [their] partner Books For Africa.”

I’ve chosen my favorite to show you here, but if I had to choose one, I’d go for The Great Gatsby t-shirt, hands down. That cover designed by Mikey Burton “as part of his grad school thesis project to get young adults interested in reading” caught my eye immediately and I absolutely love it! Even if it’s not my favorite book of the bunch, that shirt definitely is. Which would you wear?

wow I love their t-shirts! and that’s amazing that they collaborate with Books for Africa, I have a friend who lived in Rwanda for two years and she raised funds for that very nonprofit.

Pilar – Wow, that’s great! I’d never heard about Books for Africa until I read about Out of Print and it sounds like a truly amazing organization.

I remember hearing about Out of Print a year or so ago and really love the concept. They sell a selection of their shirts at one of my favorite bookstores in Manhattan–I think it’s about time I try one out. The F. Scott Fitzgerald series are my favorites.

So I get a cool t-shirt and I’m helping get a book someplace it needs to be? The answer is yes. Now, do they have one for Fahrenheit 451…

Kayla – Uw.. I’d love to see these in person, all together, in a store! The internet can only show so much. If you do get one, let me know what you think!

Lindsay – Hah, my pleasure… thank you for paying attention! ; )

Rebekka – That’s my second favorite. Love it, too!

Kimbirdy – It reminded me of your birthday this year. : ) And that’s awesome that you have that Great Gatsby book(cover)!

Brandi – They do actually!

These. are. AMAZING. Oh my gosh seriously I want every single one. I’m the same way with graphic tees, I really don’t like wearing them and especially don’t if they contain ads. But I’d totally be down with sporting a Great Gatsby tee! I seriously am going to buy like 4 of these, haha thanks so much for the great find Eva.

I LOVE these shirts! I would totally have to agree on The Great Gatsby! I actually loved the book, so it would be my #1 choice of the ones shown above! The design is very eye-catching. And it totally suits my personality! I must say, I love all of them though! If they weren’t so expensive, I would totally buy one right now! I will definitely go on shopping spree when I get some money though 🙂 Thanks for sharing these awesome shirts!
