Click-to-donate

As soon as I get online, first I check my email and then I do my daily clicks. They only take a couple minutes but they’re so worth it! (I must add here, though, that the amount of time it takes probably also depends on your internet connection and how distracted you get during each click.) I’ve been clicking every single day that I’ve been able to since 2005.
You may be asking “what are these clicks and how exactly are they helping?”.  I have two primary sources: Care2.com & thehungersite.com. I’ve posted photos with links of both sites above. You can click on either to read a detailed explanation and see the exact difference each click makes. But in short: you click the donation button, see the different sponsor ads, and those sponsors give money to the cause. Easy as that and it doesn’t cost you a cent!

Do you click to donate on other websites? If so, mention them in the comments!

Yes I do; I’ve been clicking at at free donation sites since I was 15. I’m 22 now. There had better be a plot of rainforest land with my name on it by now. xD

Anyway, while I’ve lost track of a few over the years, I still click at a lot of the same sites that I did back then, including the ones you’ve listed.
It’s helpful/quick to work from a webpage that lists a bunch of them, this one’s my favorite: http://www.conservebirdhabitat.com/donation.htm

There’s also the new, great website http://www.freekibble.com , that was founded by a 13 year old girl, and helps donate quality pet food to animal shelters across the US. It’s trivia-based, but wrong or right, your answer still gives 10 pieces of kibble. (20 if you also visit http://www.freekibblekat.com )

I just checked back, and I’m delighted to see that Big Cat Rescue’s free donation click is up and working again (it had been down for a while when they were updating the website): http://www.bigcatrescue.org/icare.htm
It helps fund the care of rescued big cats in the Big Cat Rescue sanctuary in Florida. A purring sound plays right after you make your click, so be aware of that if you’re listening to music or making your clicks at work or something like that. 😛

http://www.freerice.com is also a great site, and a popular one. You can click more than once a day here, as it is in a quiz format. You start out with English vocabulary, but you can switch to other topics. Each right answer gives 10 grains of rice to World Food Programme to help feed hungry people living in poverty. I don’t visit this one as often as I should; it can get kind of addicting once you start, and you don’t really want to stop. xD;

Another great site that allows you to help charities for free is http://www.socialvibe.com . The format for this one’s a bit different, with social networking and charity assistance rolled into one. You set up a profile, and pick the charity you want to support (many are listed, from of a variety of causes), and then you complete sponsored activities to earn points, which help fund your charity. The activities usually consist of posting a response to a question, taking a quiz/survey, watching a video THEN taking a survey, reading a story from SocialVibe’s blog, and etc. My best guess is that 10 points = 10 cents, and usually the activities are 100 points each. When there aren’t any new activities posted, you can post a status update and visit a post in one of the discussion forums to generate 15 points for your charity. Be warned though, some of the activities aren’t dial-up/slow connection friendly, since they may require you to watch a video. Most of the others, while they may ask for you to become a facebook fan of something, don’t require you to to get the points. The points can also earn you rewards, from point bonuses to material things like a wristband, a stress ball, or a t-shirt, but what’s really important is helping the cause <3
You can also support more than one cause, by visiting other members' pages and doing their activities. It's not the most dial-up friendly website, but I still visit it everyday and do what I can. My page is at http://www.socialvibe.com/slewinca =)

Since a lot of the clicks that I've listed here are based in different countries (mainly conservebirdhabitat's ones), I recommend making your clicks all at a set time every day, so you won't run into an "you've already clicked today!" due to an overlapping time zone. ^^'

As for how long this all takes, it really doesn't take that much time at all, especially if you have a high-speed internet connection. Even for me, having a dial-up connection, it usually doesn't take much more than a half-hour to complete them ALL. And that's much quicker than the other things I do on the internet in a day, like going through email, or downloading videos or songs, and etc. ^^'

Eek, this got long o.o Well, I hope I've helped! I think I've posted all the ones I can remember…
Oh! There's another way to help charities for free: http://www.goodsearch.com and http://www.igive.com !
Personally I use GoodSearch more than iGive, but either one works in pretty much the same way. You pick your favorite charity, and every internet search you make through them, and every purchase you make through a link to an online store listed there, helps benefit your charity. I'm supporting the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society at the moment. 😀

Oh my! Thank you so much for taking the time to write that all out Lauren!

I definitely agree about it being nice to just go to one place. I have my clicks in my “top sites”, but maybe I’ll have to just add the website you go to, conservebirdhabitat.com, to my top sites.

I was planning on writing a whole post on Free Kibble & Free Kibble Kat – they’re such great sites! And the story behind it makes it that much better! (Same goes for Free Rice!)

Hah..thanks for the purring sound warning. Every once in a while, when I’m on Free Kibble Kat, I pass my mouse over the cat icon by accident and it meows and catches all of the people’s and cat’s attention in the room.

SocialVibe, of course! It hasn’t been working for me within the past few days, but I continue to go back every day hoping I’ll get to do the activities. SocialVibe is a great site and I’m so glad that there is such a place!

I’ve not heard of iGive, I’ll have to look into it.

Thanks again, Lauren! I really appreciate it.
