Life tip #20: Drink plenty of tea

Good Monday to all of you! A little while back I asked for you to share your life tips with me and the lovely Brandi of Not Your Average Ordinary shared quite a few! One she suggested was “take time for tea” and, if you know me or have been around here on Four Leaf Clover, you know I love tea! Just check out this post here and here to see for yourself.

Taking time for tea could easily be added to the many things that we should make time for on a previous life tip of mine as well as drinking more tea and drinking just about everything (other than water) less. Dedicating a whole life tip to tea, however, is perfectly a’okay by me!

I drink a cup of green tea every single morning and continue to drink at least a couple more cups throughout the day (I actually have a fresh cup next to me right now as I’m writing this). If you’re interested about the many health benefits of tea, please read my previous tea posts linked above. I’m sure that the amount of tea I drink is a huge reason for why I’m hardly ever sick and, if ever I feel something coming along, I drink plenty of tea to keep it at bay. I also recommend tea to anyone who is feeling a bit under the weather.

Even though I drink so much tea, it’s rare that I sit silently with just my cup and ponder. Do you do this? The first day I really tried meditating a couple weeks ago, I drank a cup on the balcony and it was a great start to a day that continued on a positive note. Thank you, Brandi, for the reminder! Feel free to share some of your life tips in the comments! Your tips last week blew me away and I’d love to hear what more you have to share!

I end every day with a cup. If I didn’t love coffee so much, I’d try to cut it out in favor of more tea. I try for one of each: coffee in the morning, and tea at night.

This is definitely something I need to start working on as well. I just wish there were a tea flavor that I would like when its hot. I know I like (some) tea when its cold but when its hot, for some reason I can’t stand it. But this will be something I am going to work on. Once I find that one flavor tea that I like, I know I will definitely be able to incorporate this into my daily life. I’m starting to get a bit tired of drinking just water, orange juice, and sometimes apple juice. Tea would be a nice change (as long as I found the right flavor of course). Do you have any recommendations as to what type of tea I should try?

I’m actually sitting in Napa now, sipping some Gua Hui tea. It’s lovely, though raining out today. And something about tea just calms me so. It’s like indulgence without the calories. And I use it for meditative time too. Sometimes I’ll just sit and let the steam float across my eyelids. That feels so nice.

I gave up coffee a few months ago (HARD HARD HARD!!) and now I’m drinking more tea than ever. I feel so much better though – although, coffee still calls my name…daily 🙂

My tip: stretch every day! I fall asleep more quickly and easily at night when I stretch before crawling into bed. I guess it’s sort of like meditation for me. I always end my stretch session by laying flat on my back, extending my arms above my head, and pretending that a rope is pulling my arms and my legs from my body. At this point, I’m basically asleep already. In fact, I’ve even fallen asleep right there on the floor!

I alternate between Green and Ginger every morning and sometimes I mix the two. I have a little mug from Scotland with lady bugs crawling up the side that’s my favorite to drink from. 🙂

I find that after spin class or yoga it’s easier for me to have a little quiet time and enjoy a cup.

I guess I’m lucky I never liked coffee and haven’t gotten hooked on it, ha!

Misty – Let me know how that recommendation goes!

Lindsay – Thank you SO much for sharing your tip! I need to start stretching every day.. I used to, but it’s been too long.

Sana – I haven’t mixed teas, I think, ever! Thank you for opening my eyes to even more tea flavors!
